Theater 150 Classes Presents:

The Quintessential Monologue Intensive
with acclaimed Director John Randle

In auditions, the Monologue is often the only piece you can thoroughly premeditate, calmly prepare and perform to near perfection. But much of the time monologues just lay there without nuance, stakes or purpose. And the result isn't communication at all. Just bewilderment and boredom. Contrast this with a 5-Saturday Monologue Intensive in which you'll learn to:

Select monologues through a process of Personal Resonance. Develop, cast and 'rehearse with' the invisible person you're speaking to. Distill the backstory from the play that propels your communication, or Create a fictitious backstory if the monologue lacks a greater context. Test the veracity of your Scene Objective & the strength of your Emotional Justification. Manipulate your monologue's setting to add urgency and up the stakes.

Physicalize your pieces through an organic Animal Association. Explore your pieces in the Shadow Box to access your true Subconscious Material. Charge your monologue with a "terrible vulnerability" that keeps you present to yourself. And embrace the Camera as your creative ally.

Why the camera?

Because in Week 5, both of your monologues will be shot professionally, color corrected and DVD mastered by John's best friend, acclaimed DP, Marc Miller.
